Humanimals – Human Nature
A new photo series explores the connections between humans and animals in a very colorful way.
It all started with photos by someone else: one day, Meike
painted her hand in a clutter of different animal patterns, sent me photos of
that and proposed to make a project out of this. I instantly thought this was
a great idea, so we sat down with books full of animals photos and collected ideas
for paintings and photo styles. Some days later we started a test shooting with
some friends of her who willingly acted as hand models.
The results were convincing, so we decided to take the project to the next step: the plan for
the next shooting was not only to have more models and yet another painter in the
form of Amely, but also to
include painted faces as well as hands. Over the course of a week, I found four
models via the internet and on a Sunday in May, we met with this somewhat large group (seven persons all in all) in the botanical garden and spent some very fun and productive hours there.
You can now see the results of all this at the photosite.
The project is not finished yet: we will do yet another shooting and we're planning
to take the concept even further. Stay tuned for more humanimals soon!
PS: Read Meike's post about the project (in German) here.
